The Grand Duchess Leda

A character for a "Princess and the Goblin" fanfiction I thought of. It's based on what I THOUGHT it would be, which would be the pretty young woman falling in love with the goblin.

In this case, the pretty young woman is Irene's cousin Leda, who is the heir to the late Grand Duke (thus making her Grand Duchess), who is the human King's brother. And, no duh, the goblin lover is none other than our dear Prince Froglip .

So, basically, a year after The Princess and the Goblin, Froglip (who is still a little freaked out by his fall from the waterfall, p*ssed that his plan didn't work, and extremely upset by the death of his mother.) comes up with another plan to capture and 'marry' Irene. He kidnaps Leda and tries to use her as ransom in exchange for 'marrying' Irene. Well, that doesn't quite work because Leda's step family doesn't give a darn (step mother wants one of her daughters to be grand duchess), and the human king puts up so many guards that it hard for Irene and Curdi to save her. In the meantime, they come up with a plan to save Leda without Irene having to 'marry' Froglip-kidnap her back.
During that time, Leda and Froglip start to understand each other a bit more and they start to pity each other. Eventually, the captor falls in love with the prisoner and the prisoner falls in love with the captor. But then the question becomes, how would it look for the future goblin king to marry a human future grand duchess and vice versa?

Sooo onto Leda. As a child, her father had given her the pet name 'Gosling' because she liked swans and had the characteristics of a baby swan. After the death of her father, 'Gosling' became a derogatory name by her step family, but the pet-name was stuck by her father's servants and her nanny (who served as a mother figure for her). Her uncle wants her to be a role model for Irene and she tries to live up to it. She is not sure if she is succeeding, but she knows that her cousin loves her dearly. Froglip takes advantage of the devotion by kidnapping Leda and holds her ransom. At first, Leda found it hard to pity Froglip's grief over his mother's recent death, as her own mother had died when she was born, but that made Froglip pity her.

A little background on the name and swan thing. In Greek mythology, Leda is the mother of Helen, who of course, was a Spartan queen, but she ran off with Paris, a Trojan prince, thus starting the 10-year-long war. Zeus the sun-god came to Leda in the form of a swan and SOMEHOW that worked out and Leda had Helen. I'm not COMPLETELY sure if Helen was born from a swan egg, though...
